In August 2001, Andre Barlow and Wayne Swanepoel, started Label and Print Technologies.
The primary focus of the new company was to provide 'self-adhesive solutions' to customers in the market place. And of course, to have fun while doing it!
With the partners valuable experience gained in thermal printer and ribbon field, dealer relationships were set up to sell well established thermal transfer printers and thermal transfer ribbons.
Two months later, Corinna Carstens joined the company to take on overseeing production and accounts. Early 2002, Deon De Waal, joined the new team to handle the flexo printing and converting responsibility.
In 2001, the first production asset, a flexo 3 colour printing machine, was purchased to provide colour labels as well as blank labels to the industry.
By early 2003, Label and Print Technologies relocated to bigger premises in Voortrekker Main Road, Maitland, Cape Town.
With the acquisition of Thermal Transfer ribbon converting equipment in 2005, further premises were obtained in Kensington.
By the end of 2007, the ribbon converting facility was moved next door to the label production facility in Maitland.
Label and Print Technologies have grown and diversified into other exciting markets (such as the wine, spice, cheese and fruit juice markets).
They now comfortably print up to 6 colours with UV utilising the quality world recognised Mark Andy flexo printers. At the end of 2015, a full colour digital press was acquired in order to cover low volume, full colour photographic quality labels.
Consistency of excellent print quality coupled with short lead times and friendly service ensures the continued healthy relationship between company and customer.
Both owners, Andre Barlow and Wayne Swanepoel remain the direct interface between customer and successful fulfilment of orders. Internal Sales administration is handled by Sandra Maxwell. Smooth running of the operation is overseen by GM, Corinna Carstens.
In George and the Southern Cape, Label and Print Technologies is represented by Ruane Breytenbach and Michelle Bester.
